Sorry if my question is silly, I was wondering what language should I start learning if I want to develop for the Xbox live arcade platform (Downloadables I mean such as Dishwasher Samurai, Braid). Thanks,

But one side note: Your games will NOT appear on XBLA, but on the XNA Creators Club. I believe XBLA is only for developers with a dev kit/license.

And the best place to start your research on this area is here:
XNA Creators Club Online

The education section is a great place to start.

That is true, though keep in mind that you can use XNA to create a game on XBLA (Blazing Birds, Dishwasher, Schizoid, and Rocket Riot were all made with XNA). So for your average indie, you'll be targeting Xbox LIVE Indie Games (a recent renaming from Xbox LIVE Community Games) but if you get a contract with Microsoft or another publisher, it's entirely possible to use XNA to produce an XBLA game.
