Best way to load a .x file

Hi, I was just wondering what the best method for loading an x file is when using DX in immidiate mode. As far as I can find these are the only 3 way to do it: 1. Using D3DXLoadMeshFromX. 2. Creating a IDirectXFile interface to create an IDirectXFileEnumObject.... 3. Creating your own x file importer. Does anyone know about any tutorials for loading an x file in IM for DX8?

IMO, Option 1. The least work, best supported, and easiest changed if you ever decide to go for a format at a later date.
