Hi guys, I've problem compiling shader on Renermonkey 1.82. The error message is : "selected compile target isn't supported by user's hardware. DirectX Preview window: The maximum pixel shader target that your hardware supports is 1.4" I try to change pixel shader compiler target to older version, but I only found pixel shader 2.0 option in combobox. Does rendermonkey only supports pixel shader 2.0 and newer shader? Or there is any way to change compiler target beside using those combobox?

If they're using the MS shader compiler, which I imagine would make sense, then no, 1.x support went away several years ago. There's a flag in the underlying API to use the old compiler; dunno if RM can use it.

Probably you can use an assembly for ps1.x when using fxc. Support for compilation of HLSL to PS was dropped, becouse of limitations of this profile. You can use older RM version or try FxComposer, maybe Cg still have support for it.

In case of RenderMonkey you can switch to reference rasterizer, which have software support for all shader models. This will allow you to compile and view results for profiles that your hardware can't handle.
