Visual C++ 2008 Express and 64-bit Windows
Hi,
I am considering building a 64-bit computer that will run Windows 7, but I have a couple of questions...
- Will it run Visual C++ 2008 Express?
- If it does, will it allow me to compile for 32-bit?
Thanks in advance for your assistance,
Wibbs
And if you download the Windows SDK, and prepare to do some tweaking with the VC2008 registry settings, you can also build x64 projects.
I am currently running Visual Studio 2008 Professional under Windows 7 x64 with no issues. I have also run 2005 Pro and 2008 Express under Windows Vista x64. No problems there either.
EDIT: And as Codeka mentioned, you can compile Win32 applications with it. In fact, it produces 32-bit code by default. I haven't tried writing 64-bit applications as of yet.
