Procedural rocks

I'm not sure which particular forum this belongs in, but does anyone have links to resources that deal with procedural 3D rock generation? I don't need anything very fancy (I'm aiming for a low- to mid poly count solution), but I'd like to review some ideas before I start improvising myself. Surprisingly, Googling does not give too many - actually any - good results (apart from the notion that this is "a simple problem with a difficult solution"). Or it may be that I don't know how to Google :D

After a second sweep across vterrain.org I did end up finding this - more precisely the PovRockGen utility, which turned out to be a splendidly simple (and thereby crude) tool to create just the kinds of simple rocks with that I need - in case anyone else happens to be looking for something similar :)

A modified version of this http://freespace.virgin.net/hugo.elias/models/m_landsp.htm would probably do the job too.
