Photon mapping and irradance volume

Recommended Posts

Hi, Have anyone tried to bake Irradiance Volume not from Radiosity, but from Photon Mapping? Is it suitable? Is the irradiance function computed from Photon Mapping too noisy for such an application? Does it provide any advantages over generating Irradiance Volume from Radiosity? Also, Photon Mapping is a random process, the irradiance function at a sampled sphere is sampled non-uniformly. How to project this non-uniformly sampled irradiance function against the spherical harmonics basis? Is it possible to interpolate a "uniform sampled irradiance function" from a nonuniform sample? Thanks in advance! :D
