[DX10] Predicate drawing: download the predicate result to app

Hello, I'm trying some scene optimization techniques and I have an octree for which I render a box for every "larger" zone and I'd use the ID3D10Predicate to reject the zones immediately if they are not visible. The problem is that I can't get the result of the predication to my application from the gpu. I tried the GetData() method (from ID3D10Predicate) but it never returns anything. How can I get the result?

The only way to get the result is through the GetData() method. This method returns only an HRESULT. You must supply the out parameters to the method so that it'll fill them in. For Occlusion, the parameter is UINT64.

You should check the HRESULT return value to see if the result is ready yet. It make take several frames in order to get the result back from the GPU.
