DirectShow - Streaming Video From Memory vs. HDD

I have an application that I need to optimize. Currently my videos stream from the hard drive (full screen DirectDraw app using DirectShow to play videos). I need to get around this now as it is slowing down other processes that need to access the hard drive at the same time DirectShow does. I am looking for a way to load a video (AVI) into memory and stream it from memory. I know there will be a performance hit when loading the video into memory but the videos in question are 5-10MB. Is this possible? Has anyone ever done anything like this? I would greatly appreciate any help/info. p.s. - I know that I could use a RAM drive but this is not available in all situation since some Windows OS versions do not support RAM drives (Windows Me). The ones that do have RAM drive support do not support large enough RAM drives (maybe I am wrong about this but I think they are all limited to small sizes <= 30MB). Thanks, Todd Casey
