Hey, I have been searching for a DirectX 8 Appwizard for Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0. I have read messages on the internet that it is in DirectX 8.1. So I went back to the Microsoft website and ran an SDK update program that gave me the latest version. It says a feature is an Appwizard but I have not seen one. I would like an appwizard so that i could quickly get started on DirectX programming. Anybody know where to get this appwizard??? Thanks for any help

DirectX 8.1 is still in beta (currently on interim 2). It isn''t available unless you''re a beta tester (and also may of course still have bugs in so betas aren''t so suitable if you''re just starting out).

My guess for the release of DX8.1 is August/September time.

The AppWizard won''t write your program for you though, it sets you up with a simple shell, the same one in the SDK samples. The tutorial files in the SDK get you up and running quickly, and modifying any of the other samples would get you the same results as if you had used the AppWizard.
