I''m an intermediate programmer trying to learn how to make something about writing simple games. Are there any DOS libraries that would allow low resolution graphics in DOS mode? (I ask this because I have attempted understanding DirectX, and found it to be quite too complicated for me, at least for now) Please no flames..

ive also tried dos graphics programming and directx but ive found that if your going to program you really should learn windows type graphics because no one uses dos anymore. the only graphics I know for dos is called dos4gw, ive found no books on this and the internet has given me dead ends on dos4gw.

Actually, DOS4GW != Graphics. It''s a 32 bit DOS extender which gives you Real Memory Addressing. No more 640k limit.

Dos4gw has nothing to do with graphics. It is a DOS extender that basically allows you to access memory using a 32bit flat memory model.

Martee is correct. Look into Allegro.
