Device registers and programmable pipeline

Is there ability in directx to access such dx device registers as material or Fixed-Function Lights from programmable pipeline? thanks in advice. [Edited by - user88 on October 12, 2009 4:15:25 AM]

These are not device registers. Modern cards have no fixed function hardware, and everything is converted to shaders by Direct3D. Given that, it's possible that you may be able to reverse engineer the system to find where and when the values are stored in shader constants, however there's no direct API way to access them, which I assume is what you mean. If you use shaders, set your own constant values.

Yes, i use programmable pipeline as well as fixed pipeline. I thought why i must set data for both FPL and PPL. What if i can use FPL data for SPL also.. now i see. Thanks ET3D
