I have been looking at the listings for "next gen" game engines, so I was wondering, what are some of the techniques used in modern games? Try to be a specific as possible. I have been searching the internet now for a while, but I haven't be able to find a comprehensive list. Please list any techniques you can think of in addition to a brief overview of it. The more specific you are with your answer the easier it is for me to research it on google. The techniques I know about so far are: Lighting: Per-pixel, per-vertex lighting, bump mapping, normal mapping, high dynamic range lighting. I have also heard of attenuation, spherical harmonics. In addition to these any techniques you can think of would be greatly appreciated.
