Well I've decided I want to make a 2d side scroller. I'm still trying to learn SDL (I'll be using c++ with SDL). But I figure I'd take a break for the programming aspect and start on some of the graphics. So here a side profile of my main character (as yet unnamed). What do you guys think? Hopefully in the next couple of days I can make a sprite sheet of at least the walking motions and start learning to animate in SDL with my own images (part of my goal is to make as much of this game myself as possible). (Click to enlarge) As you can tell I haven't finished his mask or ears (or hand for that matter). What color mask do you think would be best? I think the same red as his shirt would get lost into the shirt. Black was my other thought, but hard to bring the details of the "drapery"....I dunno, what so you think? Also feedback of the overall image (character design, quality, whatever) is appreciated as this is my first game (well aside from the basic junk you do in school) and also my first time drawing a "cartoon".
