How or what is the best way to make a game multi-player. Whether that is players connecting via internet, LAN etc. Any good tutorials available that can be of help. I have the game in single player or 2 player. How can it be done that there is a multi-player option so 1 player hosts the game, and the others join. It can be a small LAN, it doesn't matter, as long as a 4 players can play against each other. The game is in java, So how exactly does the code need to be changed if it will be played on seperate computers. Does the same code work. It is a tic tac toe game , so a player clicks a block and then the next player clicks. It uses actionListener. Thanks

In general, no, the same code doesn't work, because when there's a wire inbetween, there will be latency between one user sending the data, and the other user receiving it. Often, game developers find that they need to totally re-think how they do simulation and display of game state to work on networks.

The Forum FAQ has some good pointers to various problems you'll be running into; I suggest you read through it. Warning, though: networking is *not* simple! It will take a lot of reading and experimentation to learn.
