I have recently been introduced to Quake 3 Radiant for use with a test bed BSP loader. I’m finding it quite hard to use. Objects seem easily misplaced because I can only view one axis at a time. Is there any way in which I can view all 3 at once as with 3D Studio? Also I am also having trouble with CSG subtraction. When subtraction is performed I get strange texture flipping error (which I have heard is called Z buffer fighting or something along those lines) is there any way in which I might correct this? Thanks a lot, any tutorials or reference would be greatly appreciated. Later. Steve

I have been using Q3Radiant for quite a while now, do a search for tutorials to learn the basics of it.

Z fighting is when two polygons share the same plane so the renderer doesn''t know which one to draw, and you get an ugly flickering effect. Often when you rotate brushes in wierd ways or do other funny things to them, they will loose their texture coordinates and you will have to redo it, its better to place your objects, then texture. I have not found a way round this ....yet!!

There are a few different views you can use for editing. Go to Edit|Preferences to choose which one. I''ve heard the ID level editors use the floating window view with the XZ window and the Y scrollbar to adjust height.

I prefer to use the 4 panel display with the 3D view in the top left, and 3 side views, with texture, entity and surface property dialogs floating when I need them.

Either way its a really good editor!!!
