[SlimDX]Convert D3DX 9 Mesh

Direct3D 9 has functions for loading meshes from .X Files as well as function for creating objects. Since these are lacking in Direct3D 10, is it easy to make a conversion from the meshes generated by Direct3D 9? Does someone have code examples of such a conversion in C# with SlimDX? Is it better to stay with Direct3D 9 because of this?
