The amount of tris on the rocky road is awesome. Though the tree shadows on the grass seem like they were popping up. Just as I'm getting a hang of dx10 dx11 comes out :P
Looks like Parallax Occlusion Mapping instead triangles.
I can't be parallax mapping since the rocks can be seen in front of the other geometry, it can only be some kind of relief mapping with fin extrusion and skyhigh sampling rate, which I doubt, the rocks look too much "real" 3D, and that is the point of the tessallator
It is real 3d check out the other video which shows it in wireframe too.It basically generates new geometry as you approach it.
