This won't be a well respected idea but hear me out. Me and my friend were thinking what would happen if we had some spin off of Zelda, probably as a mod for ut3. Since I can map on UT3 and twilight princess models are already ported to .3ds, I figured I'd take the lazy way out if I ever do start this. So we figured three teams, one for each of the three forces (tri-force lol) and each team has about 6 very unique characters. I'd make a list to explain but I think you get the idea. Anyway, I thought it would be interesting if they all played just like in the game (twilight princess). I'm no pro so I thought this would be a good way to start off getting serious in modding, I've been trying for years but I guess I've been aiming way over my head. This seems a little more realistic, at least as far as my skills go. Good idea? Bad idea?

If you think Zelda will be an easy game to make just because it's a bit old, then you're going to be mistaken. I'd say you're still aiming way over your head. It's not only a total conversion, but a conversion to a different game type. A more attainable goal would be to keep the UT3 gameplay style but change weapons, characters, maps, etc.

Its your first so my advice start simple and fun. I work with source engine myself.
Start with something you are all interested in. Great way to start is just make maps :) like seriously.

You must be a creative guy just like me ;) lol Jk but seriously take your imagination and make something brand new. Zelda we all love but dont you think its better to create something original :) you gonna have to make models for Zelda anyways, why not make something badass thats in your head waiting to be found?

you can do it sir! lol
