I was trying to get one of the samples from the windows SDK which didn't come with the striped down version that came with C++ Express. After I installed the Windows SDK I can't link to the windows API anymore, what should I do?

He's poking fun at the fact that you're not using the pedantically correct name of the product (by eliding the "Visual" part, et cetera), I think.

Your original problem was probably caused by an installer modifying some IDE options for include paths (or failing to do so), which you could have fixed manually. Or, apparently, by running the registration application.
