How to work out Max Skin Weight per vertex/face?

Hi gurus, I can't seem to find a way to directly extract max skin weight per vertex/face from 3ds max. Is it a good idea to hard code it? like those ones found in tiny.x BTW: No physique used
 XSkinMeshHeader {
     2;
     4;
     35;
    }
The number of bones(35) is known. However not max skin weight per vertex(2) and per face(4)? Any comments? Thanks Jack [Edited by - lucky6969b on November 2, 2009 4:56:50 AM]
