How to draw some polygons on a sphere ?

hello my question is I've drawn a sphere using DX10 but i need draw some polygon(like triangle or rectangle) to describe its shape make it look more 3D how can i draw the edges when i draw these triangles? or... re-create a new buffer to draw these edges? but it's wasting time... thx

How about having a second, dynamic index buffer? Fill the index buffer with the triangles you want to highlight, then draw it using the normal vertex buffer and with a wireframe fillmode. If you draw your sphere normal first then it will look like the triangles are superimposed on the sphere. You might have to add a slight offset to the wireframe pass.
