Best method, multiple blitting or stretching.. I am using DirectX8 to make a 2D game using the ID3DX sprite interface. I have a cross section through a gradient picture (about 20 pixels high), and I want to use it as the backing to my menu buttons.....e.g. To draw a bar. My question is this: which would be the most effective method of displaying the "bar", doing multiple blits of the cross section till it gets to the required length, or stretching it to the required length? Is there a big difference in speed or quality between these methods?
