I have posted this message on other topics and haven''t heard from many people so I decided to post it on the general "game programming" forum. Anyway, I am looking to buy some books on directx 8. I have heard many people recommend "Zen of Direct3d Game Programming" and also "Beginning Direct3d Programming" (some bad reviews on amazon). I would like your suggestions or if you have any other books to recommend. Thanks, Chris Lynch

I''ve read Beginning Direct3D programming and Zen of ... and both books are just to get you started with the api. You could buy them, or if you want to save some money, just play around with the sdk sample code and read the appropriate help files until you get the hang of it.

I don''t think there are any advanced books on DirectX.

If you know DirectX already (which I think you do if I remember your posts correctly), then you might be better off with looking at the SDK sample code and stuff like XoSkely10 said.
