Lightmaps

Hey Folks! I´m just working on a 3d first person engine and I really like to know how to make those cool LIGHT MAPS like in quake2 or UT. Does anybody know how to implement this in a direct3D environment? By the way do you all use D3DTLVERTEX or D3DVERTEX. I would really love to use the first one but everything gets messed up when i change it. Have fun. --::[Madhed]::-

You can use any vertex you want. To use lightmaps in d3d, you must first pre-render them. Use a raytracer, and render small color maps for each face in your level, then you must render the face, then re-render it using the lightmap as the texture with alphablinding tuned on.
