Portable Pixel Map - get details at:

Related formats are PBM and PGM - Portable BitMap and Portable Grey Map.

The P# determines which format it is, a combination of:

- ASCII (all pixels stored in ASCII)
- Binary (all pixels stored as binary)
- 8bit palettised
- 24bit RGB
