I recommend the Game-Programming-Line-Express-Learning book.
It's the best one out there IMO.
It doesn't teach you python though so you already have to know the basics.

I'm also recommending "Game Programming: The L line, The Express Line to Learning" by Andy Harris. It uses Pygame to teach the fundementals of game development. It also teaches the bare basics of Python to get you started.
