- BigWorld Technology [www.bigworldtech.com] - Hero Engine [www.heroengine.com] Ive been previously informed that these mmorpg engines would best for INDIE Developers that have the money for it. Lately Ive been on a search for MMORPG engines that are as technologically detailed as these engines while fitting a budget of well preferably 5,000 for a commercial INDIE license. In case you don't clearly comprehend what i mean by technologically detailed, i mean things like same features (or similar), Similar graphics capabilities, custom scripting capabilities, and that of the sort. Also please mention the prices for the Engines. If the prices for bigworld technology and the hero engine are known please mention them.

Hero is in the five-six figure range. There are various royalty and regional options you can choose to alter the cost of the license. Its not really an engine you play around with. Even the evaluation license costs a good chunk of change. Hero isn't supposed to be an indie MMO package. The new Star Wars MMO is being developed with Hero.

Bigworld I can't comment on as I've not used it. But given what I've seen on the website its probably in the same price range. Contact them and find out what their licensing costs are.

Realm Crafter is probably more in your budget.

IIRC BigWorld was being used for StarGate: Worlds, and quite possible some other multi-million dollar mmo's, so chances are it's not exactly in your price range.

You're probably going to have to drop your standards a bit -- as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Asking for a cheap alternative that's feature comparable is like saying "I can only afford a Ford, but I want one that performs like a Ferrari."
You're at least 10 times under budget (maybe even 100x...) to get a feature-packed commercial engine.

The best way to find out how much these things cost is to simply ask their sales team.

This may be worth looking at.

http://www.abyssalengine.com/mmorpg.html

They have just released a new license for developing MMORPG games. And their licensing page says they have different licencing models ranging from $1500 USD to $30,000 USD.

One other that might be in your price range would be Shiva.

http://www.stonetrip.com/

If you bought Shiva Server and the Shiva Engine it would be under $5000.

Note that I haven't used either of the mentioned products, just looked at them via the websites.
