Halo engine

1. Does anyone know anything about the terrain engine used in Halo? I read that it contains overhang, which rules out the possibility of any height map based engine, doesn''t it? 2. They have really nice windows on their vehicles which are transparent, which means depth sorting has to be done to those. How would one implement transparent parts of meshes in an easy way? And just sorting the meshes based on their distance from camera won''t work since people can sit in the vehicle.

I guess they''re using an octree... That way they can do the overhangs in the terrain... for the transparency they just draw from back to front and then you don''t have to worry ''bout it anymore.. (I guess)
