Plotting a single pixel

Hey gamedevs I have to implement a function to plot a single pixel to the screen in Direct3D 9, by giving the function 2 params, X and Y, but to keep things real, i'm not the 2D guy, so i have no idea how i should implement this, so for the 2D gurus out there, can you help me? any tips for implementing this??? Thanks in advance

Use D3DPT_POINTLIST for the primitive type, and render a pre-transformed vertex.

THANKS!!!! I dont know why i didnt though about that!!! that's way easier of what i was planing to do!! i planned to render the scene to a texture, then modify the texture on the specified position!!!
