Hy. I'm not understand what are billboards and how they are related with particles. I'm understand that are simil to sprites , but what mean that are always oriented to camera?

They always face the camara; meaning you never see the "back" of them, they rotate around their up-vector so they always point towards the camara.

They relate to particles in that a particle can be drawn by mapping a particle texture onto a billboard (quad) of a suitable size.
