So I'm trying to integrate OpenAL with my project, but I can't seem to get OpenAL to link properly. Is there something special I should be doing with this library as opposed to others? I noticed it isn't a .a file (.lib) is this a problem? Extra credit: How do I load audio files to BE played?

If there isnt a .lib file, probably you got a source package, try compiling it or downloading http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal/Downloads/OpenAL11CoreSDK.zip

There is a .lib file, and I include it in the linker, but it still gives me the classic errors that indicate a library file not being linked properly. I tried linking all of the .lib files that are included in the SDK in various combinations (trying both the 32 bit and 64 bit version)
The 32 bit version gave me an error saying it couldn't read the file, the 64 bit version linked fine, but didn't get rid of the such-and-such function not defined errors.
