i was just about to mention that i came across unity today and was trying to figure out how to use it. do you think its possible to make something in google sketch up and import it to unity? or to make some custom models to use in unity where would i go?

I'm not sure what the export options in SketchUp are. I know Blender is very useful for Unity Models. You export to FBX and import with Unity, then you can do what you want with it once in Unity.

Look at the documentation on Unity's site to see how it's done.
