Why close images are stretched?

That's how perspective works. You have the same effect in real life, but you don't notice is as much because there is depth your brain can compensate for. Although the effect is emphasized when you have a large field of view.

It's also got to do with your screen Field of View (FoV). If you try and squeeze 170° of view onto a monitor, well just think about it... the monitor probably takes up about 45° of your view, yet your eyes view close to 180°, so you imagine squeezing all of what you see into your monitor. It's gonna be skewiff.
