do blender and unity 3d do the same things or is one better then the other?

I thought unity was a game engine and blender was a 3d modeling and animation package. I could be wrong though.

yea thats what i thought but it seems like they both can do almost the same stuff.

Blender also has an integrated game engine. (I haven't used it myself, so I don't really know how it compares to Unity.)

Blender is a 3D modeling package with a small game engine built in.

Unity is a game engine with an integrated editor that imports assets that were made in another modeling package. You don't get a full featured 3d editor.
