express and not
What's the difference between, Visual studio 2008 Professional and Express edition?
I originally had the Professional one, but opted for the express edition because for some reason i couldn't use darkGDK on the Professional version, and just wondering their differences.
Express doesn't have all the flair.
-No plugins (no Visual Assist X or ViEMU)
-No profiler tools (only in Professional:Team Edition)
-Can't replace the compiler (for instance Intel compiler is a common replacement)
-Can't integrate with other tools (mostly due to lacking plugin support).
iirc you can't commercially release applications developed with express.
Microsoft has a full comparison of the different editions on their website as well.

You can.
Quote:Can I use Express Editions for commercial use?
Yes, there are no licensing restrictions for applications built using Visual Studio Express Editions.
