So one of the music files in my game is 33.8 MB since XACT seems only to work with wav files. I used the Compression Preset option described here: http://blogs.msdn.com/mitchw/archive/2007/04/27/audio-compression-using-xact.aspx and according to XACT the "PC Compressed" size is now more like 9 MBs. The problem is though, when I compile the .xnb file that gets generated is still 33.8 MB. Where is the compressed version?

oh what the hell. Ok apparently I just didn't really know how XACT works, I was keeping the individual sound files in my Content folder which get included when I compile. Those files are actually unnecessary though because they are all included in the xwb file that XACT generates and the xwb file is being properly compressed.
