Rotating the Camera using the mouse?

Let's say i have the change in mouse positions in the x and y directions. How am i supposed to rotate the camera accordingly in 3D if i don't have a z value??

Usually only two rotations get done using the mouse. Yaw gets attached to the x movement, Pitch to the y movement. Roll isn't used that much but you could imagine using it in flight simulators or something like that. You can use a keyboard for that if you want to controll it with input.
