Spotlight question.

Recommended Posts

I have been playing around with the spotlights and noticed a couple of things (This is in version 3.00. Not sure what's it's like in the later release as I can't seem to download the bloody thing!!!)

(1) If you rotate your camera, the spotlight rotates with you. Basically, the target position is relative to the camera position. I thought everything was supposed to be in world coords?

You can see this effect if you set the position of the spotlight to the camera position and set the target position to (0.0, 0.0, -10.0) (ie. why -ve I don't know!!!). You'll notice in this case that whereever the camera points the spotlight follows!

I thought that the target position was a world coord (as mentioned in one of Chris's earlier posts). This is in fact, not the case.

(2) The falloff value makes no difference to the spotlight. It seems to go on forever. I get objects in the distance being lit!

I thought it was me, but I had a look at the spotlight demo and this exhibits the same peculiarities.

Please let me know if this is fixed in the later releases!
