Edit: When I download and compile "XNAnimation 0.7.0.0 BETA 3"> from http://download.codeplex.com/Project/Download/FileDownload.aspx?ProjectName=xnanimation&DownloadId=104763&FileTime=129098513514630000&Build=16271 (from http://www.codeplex.com/xnanimation), when I try to run the exe on my XP VMWare, I get the same crash. --- I'm trying to get the EXE from this project to run on a different computer but upon startup it crashes with the standard windows appcrash dialog. Sample is: http://www2.cs.ucy.ac.cy/~cs06ee1/DwarfTutorial3.0.rar My system: - Windows 7 64-bit - Visual Studio 2008 - Direct X (Feb 10) installed (this is not required for the program though) - XNA Game Studio 3.0 and 3.1 installed My friend tried running it on his Win 7 machine and it crashed for him: it crashed right away Description: Stopped working Problem signature: Problem Event Name:APPCRASH Application Name:DwarfTutorial.exe Application Version:1.0.0.0 Application Timestamp:4b86ae2c Fault Module Name:KERNELBASE.dll Fault Module Version:6.1.7600.16385 Fault Module Timestamp:4a5bdbdf Exception Code:e0434f4d Exception Offset:0000b727 OS Version:6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID:1033 Can someone get this to run for them too? Also, I have the compiled binaries ready for someone to just run on their system to check if it works or not: http://www.box.net/shared/ly28tp28jb Edit: I installed the XNA 3.1 redist on my XP32 VM and I'm still getting the crash. (running from source)

Seems to run fine for me. I have the same system config as you do (but I don't have DX February installed). I've got an nVidia 275 GTX.

(edit) Tried the other link and it also works.

It could be some DLL that the other machines don't have. Try using a DLL dependency checker on it.

I think it will definitely run if you have XNA Game Studio installed, but that's only for developers. I'm trying to get this to run on clean OS. I've installed the redists on my host OS but still get crash.

I'm even getting the same exact crash when I try to run a different XNA project on my Windows XP 32 bit VM ware machine (clean with just the XNA redist installed and SP3)

When I download and compile "XNAnimation 0.7.0.0 BETA 3"> from http://download.codeplex.com/Project/Download/FileDownload.aspx?ProjectName=xnanimation&DownloadId=104763&FileTime=129098513514630000&Build=16271 (from http://www.codeplex.com/xnanimation), when I try to run the exe on my XP VMWare, I get the same crash.

I ran dependency walker on the XP machine and the EXE had no errors. All of the DLLs were loaded and nothing was red.

Even with the Release build I still can't get the output to run on my XP vmware host.

I'm pretty sure that the .NET framework version does not matter in this problem. I tried running a simple window forms app on my host (WinXP in VMWare) that was built with .NET 2, 3, and 3.5 and it all worked.

Why is this thing crashing? I'm going to try installing Visual Studio and XNA Studio 3.1 on the host machine and see if I can debug it there.. but I'm afraid if it works then, that means all my users have to install XNA studio just to run my game?

Hi,

try a 'clean' OS + XNA Redist + DX (start with feb2010) Redist.

That solved crashing problems for me really well.

I have all of those installed... same crash.

Can somebody get the output EXEs from http://download.codeplex.com/Project/Download/FileDownload.aspx?ProjectName=xnanimation&DownloadId=104763&FileTime=129098513514630000&Build=16271 to run on a "clean" OS with just the XNA 3.1 Redistributable to run without crashing?

As far as I'm can get trying to get it to run, I keep getting an exception: That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers. When I try to run the Sample 1 on my clean OS.

I'm having the same crash when when I try to run an empty game that I crated with the XNA Ox Game Engine. This game engine uses the same XNAnimation library that I am trying to get to work on my clean OS (see above.) The thread about that is at http://oxgameengine.codeplex.com/Thread/View.aspx?ThreadId=203625

Something fishy is going on here.

Somebody please find out how to get these sample to run on a clean XP install.

One of your codeplex links is broken, so i downloaded the latest version.
Both run perfectly fine for me on Win7 64 bit.

The problem is that the executable from your build will not run on a clean Windows XP installation.
