.Net Remoting or Sockets

Hi, I need to develop a network game using VB.Net or C#. I know that I can use .Net Remoting or sockets for client/server communication, but I am not sure what should be used. I'd appreciate any advice..

Remoting is only really useful when you can trust the code of both sides.

TcpClient is a good beginning if you want to host on a dedicated computer. You'll need to write your sever as a web page (using PHP or ASP.NET) if you want to host on a web host server.
