What AI to use for 3D space fighting game (for Android)

Hi I am doing a 3d space fighter for my bachelor degree. The designated platform is Android, more specifically HTC Hero and up. The specs are very limited and there is no dedicated hardware GPU, so everything needs to be very efficient. So: what methods should be used for the different systems? Eg. navigation, strategies etc. Thank you!

You don't an AI architecture for a type of game. You select an AI architecture for a type of behavior or decision. Since there may be many types of behaviors or decisions in a single game - and even in a single character - you may mix and match various AI architectures. Therefore, your question is unanswerable.

If you post specific behaviors that your game agents would exhibit, we can help.

Try using the NDK with OpenGL ES. OpenGL in Java is a no no, since it's impossible to do an efficient sprite batch.
