Tangents sent through Texcoords?

I've been trying to send tangents in through texcoord1 instead of an attribute via a vbo, and attempting to do normal mapping in glsl with it. But I'm getting some very poor results. Are there any limitations on sending this sort of data through a texture coordinate?

What does "very poor results" mean? Crashes? Errors? There's no limitations about texture coordinates. Describing your problem will allow us to help you.
