Help! 3D animation DirectX

i don't know how to search because i try many keywords on internet but i did't get what i want. i have Mesh/character. when character moves, its legs and arms should move. how can i set these things in directX. i am sure that it won't be frame by frame. there should be some function that tell this mesh to move its parts. somebody, please help.....thanks

Usually it is, actually. The term to search for is "keyframe animation". The idea is basically you have a frame of animation for every time slice. Per game logic frame you calculate the 2 animation frames that bound the current time stamp and blend them together to get the current screen to render. The blend weights the 2 frames based on where you are between the 2 keyframes.

The animations are usually created in an external application and your game simply reads them in, calculates where you are in the sequence and blends the appropriate frames together.
