depth issue, seeing terrain behind closer terrain

Hey guys! Pretty new to 3d/xna programming. I got a editor up and running where I can move the mouse across the terrain and raise/lower it in a circle. I just came across a problem where, when I raise the terrain high enough I can see the terrain that's supposed to be behind it. (Plus I can click on it through the closer terrain as well). Now the weird thing is, if I move around the "mountain", at a certain angle I can no longer see the terrain behind it (as it should be). What's causing this? I have no clue what to search for as google is not being very fruitful.

Share on other sites helps to have graphicsdevice.RenderState.DepthBufferEnable set to true...although its description says it defaults to that...anyways, my problem is now fixed ^^
