Compiler Error: Win32 C++ using PathAppend()

Recommended Posts

Hello I have a win32 c++ application which wont compile because of 2 functions: PathAppend() & PathFileExists(). I am using dev c++ as the editor I get the error:
Quote:
[Linker error] undefined reference to '_imp_PathFileExistsA@4' [Linker error] undefined reference to '_imp_PathAppendA@8' Id returned 1 exit status [Build error] ["Find] Error 1
I recently had a virus & had to erase everything from my hard drive do you think I dont have the library #include "Shlwapi.h" which is the library I need to use the two functions, or is it a different problem? If its the #include "Shlwapi.h" problem, could you suggest how I get the libary & where I put it in my C://devcpp folder? My full code:
#include <windows.h>
#include <iostream>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <fstream>

That's a linker error, so odds are the problem isn't the .h file missing, but it's missing/can't find shlwapi.lib. I'd so a search for the file on your drive to ensure you have it, and then make sure your compiler/linker is looking for this file in the correct folder (assuming it has been told to link it at all).

[edit]
I did a search for the file on my pc, and it looks like it is part of the platform sdk. So if you can't find it, just redonwload and install the latest platform sdk from microsoft. (odds are you've got it, else I'd expect you'd be getting a lot more compile/linking errors from other windows files).
