[.net] [SlimDX] Creating a menu?

What would be your best advice if I were to create a menu in my game that is rendered with Direct3D through the SlimDX .NET wrapper? I am sure there's a more simple method of doing it compared to how I am doing it now. In the render loop, I check if Escape has been pressed. If it has, it renders boxes as buttons.
