3ds Max and cout...

I was wondering if anyone know why std::cout won't redirect to the console in 3ds Max. This is the function I currently use to get the handle and write to the console with: http://codepad.org/WG1BZ0yf I'd love to rather just alloc the console and use std::cout to write to it. That surely should be possible?
