Hello, what can you used for sound besides DirectX''s stuff. There''s OpenAL, www.openal.org, and fmod, www.fmod.org, that I know of. Does anyone know of others?

Bass is another popular choice for windows. There is also Midas. It works on both windows and linux (and more Unices), but is still in beta AFAIK. I''m sure there are more, but these are the only ones I know.

I guess your best bet would be OpenAL, as it''s free, portable and, I think, Free (as in Free Software) or at least Open Source.

It doesn''t matter what he''s using for his graphics.

FMOD is a very cool library. It''s fast, easy to use, and has MP3 support. I believe it uses DirectSound internally though.

Never tried anything else, FMOD is all I''ve ever needed.

If you want a simple mp3 player API, try xaudio. It is very portable, free and easy to use.

I recommend Xaudio for music and OpenAL for
