I'm trying to make a breakout game in c++ using allegro. My problem is how to store the score and name of the players to a file and then show the highscore table by reading the same file, also this file needs to be appended during the program.Ive read about grabber utility in allegro tools but i dont know how to first of all make a data file of my own using grabber tool and how to append it when the program is running.Anybody whose made a game with a score board knows what im talking abt.I need a tutorial or probably a snippet of a code in order to get the abv requirements

That book won't tell you how to do it using the datafile grabber functions in Allegro. You really don't need to use them either.

You can just look up any tutorial on file I/O using functions like fopen, fread, fwrite, fprintf, and fscanf. Those will work just fine for storing your player data.
