glutGet(GLUT_ELAPSED_TIME) not working for me

Hey there, Im trying to make a glut version of a windows/opengl game I created, so that it will play on Linux. That means i need to replace the windows functionality such as timeGetTime() and use glut's time = glutGet(GLUT_ELAPSED_TIME); Unfortunately it always returns 0 as shown by: Click here to view full size Im not sure if I have done something wrong however, becuase it keeps returning 0, no matter what. Do I need to initialize a timer somewhere first or something?
